Enjoy a little "Southern Comfort"

If you live in southwestern Ontario and appreciate traditional jazz you deserve to know about Southern Comfort. These musicians bring many years of experience to every appearance and yet every session is always fresh and exciting.

The Southern Comfort regulars are Trevor Hodgson (Band leader and clarinet player), Peter Sagermann (Trombone), Brian Graville (Trumpet and vocals), Gary Tomlin (Drums), Bryan Day (Bass and vocals) and Bill Stewart (Banjo and Guitar). The group also frequently includes guest musicians. Also, in the tradition of jazz performance, visiting musicians (and some very capable people amongst their loyal audience) are often invited to sit in for a few numbers.

Announcing the death of Bryan Day

Bryan Day With great regret we announce the death of Bryan Day on Monday, November 28th., 2011. Bryan was a long time member of Southern Comfort, though in recent months Ben White has been covering Bryan's slot on stringed bass. The fans of Southern Comfort lament the loss of such a great musician from our midst. We express our sympathy to his family. The Third Sunday

On the third Sunday of each month the loyal fans of Southern Comfort gather at Cafe 13 (at the corner of Main and Water Streets) in downtown Cambridge for three hours of great music. It is a gathering to which friends have invited friends and once they come they immediately make new friends. The atmosphere in the second floor "Galt Room" of Cafe 13 is relaxed and congenial. Between sets there is lots of conversation and laughter. The arrangement of the room allows close interaction between the musicians and the audience. Dinner is available for those who wish to dine while they listen. It is a pleasant and relaxing experience to which many return with great faithfulness month after month.

The band members all have a long acquaintance with the traditional jazz repertoire and sometimes share interesting details about the selections they are playing or humorous little stories of their varied experiences in jazz performance. Southern Comfort, of course, welcomes requests from the audience. Stay informed by signing up for the Southern Comfort monthly Newsletter.

For a wonderful experience of music join Southern Comfort at Cafe 13.
